Wind mitigation inspection in Miami-Dade County
We document your home's wind-resistant features on Florida's standard wind mitigation form — the report many homeowners use to pursue insurance credits they are already entitled to.
What the form actually asks
Florida's standard wind mitigation form is a short, specific list: roof covering, roof deck attachment, roof-to-wall attachment, roof geometry, secondary water resistance and opening protection. Each one is a yes-with-evidence, not an opinion. Our job is to find the evidence and photograph it.
Miami-Dade in particular
Miami-Dade is inside the Florida Building Code's High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. Homes built or re-roofed under HVHZ rules often already have the roof-to-wall attachments and opening protection the form asks about — which is exactly why so many Miami-Dade owners are entitled to credits they have never claimed. The features are on the house; nobody has ever documented them.
What we can and cannot promise
We document what is there; your insurer determines any discount. Anybody who tells you in advance what you will save is guessing with your money — the credits are the carrier's to apply, against their own filed rates. What we can tell you is that an undocumented feature earns nothing, and most homes we look at have at least one.
What you get
- The completed Florida wind mitigation form, on site before we leave.
- Photographs supporting every answer, because an underwriter who cannot see it will not credit it.
- A plain-language explanation of which answers helped and which did not — so if you re-roof later, you know what to ask for.
Who does the inspection
Inspections are performed by a Florida Licensed Home Inspector, Lic. HI8162, and an InterNACHI member.
